SEC Plans Blockchain Trading for Tesla, Nvidia and Other Major Stocks
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is advancing plans to tokenize traditional equities, enabling round-the-clock trading of stocks like Tesla and Nvidia on blockchain networks. This initiative would allow investors to purchase security-backed tokens through crypto exchanges, operating outside conventional market structures.
The proposed framework represents a fundamental shift in market infrastructure. Tokenized assets WOULD serve as digital proxies for corporate equity, with valuation pegged directly to underlying securities. Unlike speculative cryptocurrencies, these instruments would maintain direct ties to regulated financial instruments.
Regulators have yet to finalize implementation details. The Commission appears divided between launching a limited pilot program or establishing comprehensive guidelines for widespread adoption. This development coincides with broader regulatory efforts to integrate cryptocurrency markets into the traditional financial system.
